We've been looking at different books and deciding if they're fact or fiction. Students decided that there are some things that are usually true about these two types of books.
Fiction books often:
- are silly
- have illustrations (not photographs)
- have animals acting like people
- are stories
Factual books (non-fiction) usually:
- teach us about something
- have photographs (not illustrations)
- are not stories
Homework: Look at books you have at home and decide if they're fact or fiction. Be sure to talk about all the clues that help you decide.
I found a really nice link to some free online books you can read with your child at home. Turn on the speakers and they can listen on their own, or better still, turn off the speakers and you can read to them. Some of the books are fact and some are fiction, so have fun with them!
